American Samoa Flag Day Celebration

The territory's largest annual celebration, marking the 1900 raising of the US flag on Tutuila. A flag-raising ceremony with brass band, lavalava-clad school marchers and a traditional 'ava ceremony opens a multi-day programme of fautasi longboat races, village fiafia, siva afi and choral competition. A trade fair with food and handicraft stalls runs around Utulei near Pago Pago, alongside tatau, siapo and carving demonstrations.
