Festival
Beaufort Pirate Invasion
Beaufort, North Carolina
About
Held each November in downtown Beaufort, the Beaufort Pirate Invasion reenacts the 1747 Spanish attack on the town and celebrates Blackbeard's local history. Created in 1960, the event features professional pirate re-enactors, villagers and merchants roaming downtown and the waterfront, live music, demonstrations, and a mock battle. The story unfolds on the waterfront at Taylor's Creek, throughout town and around pirate encampments. Street vendors operate on Front Street between Queen and Marsh Streets and John Newton Park from morning through evening. Food vendors must submit liability insurance and health certificates; all vendors need a fire extinguisher on-site and no generators permitted.
