Blueberry Arts Festival
Ketchikan, Alaska
About
The Blueberry Arts Festival runs the first weekend of August in Ketchikan, presented by the Ketchikan Area Arts and Humanities Council since 1975. Over 180 artist and vendor booths draw more than 12,000 community members and summer visitors across three days. Surrounding programming is heavily local and unabashedly odd: a Pet and Doll Parade, a Slug Weigh-In and Race, a Best Blueberry Dish Contest, a pie-eating contest, the Great Blueberry Ball Roll, fun runs, an art exhibit, live music, a handmade human-powered boat race, and a closing poetry slam. Two practical notes for off-island vendors: Ketchikan is accessible only by air or ferry, and early August coincides with cruise season, so the audience blends locals with visitors on shore time. Note: Pricing below represents KAAHC non-member fees. Membership levels vary and it's recommended to contact the KAAHC directly for specifics.
