Core Sound Waterfowl Weekend

Held each December on Harkers Island, Core Sound Waterfowl Weekend is an annual homecoming celebrating Down East's decoy-carving heritage. The Decoy Festival at the school, craft sales all along the way, yard sales, and fund-raisers transform the island into a five-mile corridor of vendors. Saturday features scallop fritters, sweet puppies, artists and carvers, online auction, and musical performances. Decoy carving and retriever demonstrations compete alongside duck calling, loon calling, and head whittling. Opening Friday with "Bring Back the Lights," ending Sunday with community church and breakfast.
