First Monday Trade Days
Scottsboro, Alabama
About
Scottsboro's Trade Day — originally "First Monday," dating to 1902 as a horse-trading event — is a monthly market held on the Saturday before the first Monday on the courthouse square in downtown Scottsboro. Vendors set up on the inside loop of Broad, Laurel, and Market Street, and the field is open to local craftsmen, food vendors, and anyone with items to sell or trade. Most Trade Days are free and open to all vendors with no registration; the themed events — Salsa on the Square, Independence Celebration, Halloween on the Square, and Jingle Bell Square — require vendor registration. All items are welcome except firearms, animals, and stolen or illegal goods. Because the field is unrestricted and includes resale and trade, handmade vendors will be selling alongside a broad mix.
