Franklin County Watermelon Festival

About

Running since 1981, Franklin County Watermelon Festival is the largest festival in Franklin County and has been voted Best Adults and Children's Event in the Tennessee Valley six years running. Held in downtown Russellville in mid-August, it's a two-day event featuring arts & crafts vendors, live music, watermelon contests, a 5K run, car & truck show, and free watermelon slices. Franklin County was officially declared the Watermelon Capital of Alabama in 2013.
