Freddy Fixer Parade

New Haven, Connecticut

About

Born in 1962, the Elm City Freddy Fixer Parade is one of the oldest Black American parades in the northeast. Held in New Haven's Dixwell and Newhallville neighborhoods, it's a celebration of cultural heritage, community unity, and neighborhood pride honoring the vision of founders Dr. Frederick F. Smith, Edna Carnegie-Baker, and Dr. Charles Twyman. The parade welcomes marching bands, dance groups, nonprofits, businesses, and individual vendors to participate.
