Great American Banana Split Celebration

Latrobe, Pennsylvania

About

Running since 2013, the Great American Banana Split Celebration honors David Strickler, a pharmacy apprentice who invented the banana split at Tassell Pharmacy in 1904. Held each August in downtown Latrobe, the event draws roughly 20,000 visitors for a 5K Banana Run, classic car show, live music on multiple stages, a "Biergarten" featuring local beer, and a dedicated Kids Zone. Valley Dairy is the only vendor allowed to serve the official split, but expect a wide mix—handmade crafts, farmers market goods, and food vendors.
