Fairmount, Indiana

About

Held each September in downtown Fairmount, the James Dean Festival has been sponsored by the James Dean Museum since 1975, evolving from a modest town gathering into a global pilgrimage drawing international crowds. The festival includes a huge car show, parade, carnival, vendors, and the world famous James Dean look-alike contest. Vendor rows feature crafts, memorabilia, and unique souvenirs, alongside food vendors with greasy spoons, barbecue, sweet treats, and cold drinks. Pedestrian-friendly downtown Main Street setting with strong foot traffic from both locals and international fans—a high-energy 1950s-themed event.
