Los Islenos Fiesta

Los Islenos Fiesta is held each March at Los Islenos Museum Complex in Chalmette, LA and celebrates the traditions, food, music, and dance of the Canary Islanders who settled the area beginning in the 1700s. The fiesta features Isleño cuisine, Spanish wines and cheeses, wood carving, palmetto weaving, traditional 18th century Canary Island choruses and dance troupes, and dramatic storytelling. Living history demonstrations showcase folk crafts and the historic vernacular lifestyle of the Isleño community.
