Louisiana Cotton Festival

Ville Platte, Louisiana

About

Held each October in Ville Platte, Louisiana Cotton Festival has been running since 1953 and celebrates the region's cotton heritage with Le Tournoi—a French-origin jousting competition revived in the 1950s where riders symbolically battle the seven challenges of cotton farming. The festival draws carnival rides, food vendors, craft exhibitors, and live entertainment including the Cotton Singers, plus a French contradanse (square dance) that kicks off the event each Tuesday night. Strong regional draw with deep roots in Evangeline Parish agricultural tradition.
