Minnesota State Fair
State Fairgrounds – Falcon Heights, Minnesota
About
Held in Falcon Heights in late August, the Minnesota State Fair runs an annual 12-day exposition ("The Great Minnesota Get-Together") that draws nearly 2 million visitors. It's the largest state fair in the United States by average daily attendance and the second-largest state fair in the United States by total attendance, with 200 vendors in the Grandstand alone and hundreds more across the fairgrounds selling food, crafts, and merchandise. Food vendors contend with established tradition and a discerning crowd—classic concessions like Sweet Martha's cookies and deep-fried novelties dominate, but new offerings rotate annually. Merchandise ranges from handmade goods and pottery to up-cycled products and Minnesota-themed apparel. Applications are accepted year-round and are considered as licensing opportunities become available; the selection process is highly competitive. Food & beverage vendors pay 15% of gross revenue; non-food vendors pay per-front-foot fees or percentage-based rates depending on license type.
