Mountain View Farmers Market (Grow North Farm)

Anchorage, Alaska

About

Held each June through September in Anchorage's Mountain View neighborhood, Grow North Farm is a 28,000-square-foot urban farm operated by the Anchorage Community Land Trust and Catholic Social Services. Over 20 refugee and immigrant farmers operate on-site, all receiving food business and agriculture training as they launch their own food businesses. Every Thursday from 4–7 p.m., the Grow North Marketplace features global cuisine, baked goods, cottage goods, crafts, and services from rotating vendors. In its five-season history, vendors have generated more than $500,000 in sales income, with all proceeds going directly to business owners. Fresh produce and food access programs—including WIC and SNAP with 50% discount for SNAP/EBT users—make this a welcoming fit for early-stage food and craft vendors supporting immigrant and refugee entrepreneurs.
