ScrapFest is a repurpose-focused art festival held mid-July in Old Town Lansing featuring a scrap metal sculpture competition, eco-art booth vendors, a Refashion Show (garments made from scrap fabric), family activities, live music, and food. The competition invites teams to source up to 500 lbs of metal from a local processing plant, then create a sculpture over a month — winning pieces are auctioned off with 70% of proceeds going to artists. Strong community ties and a festival ethos built around upcycling and local support.
