United Tribes International Powwow

Bismarck, North Dakota

About

The United Tribes Technical College International Powwow is held annually in Bismarck on the weekend after Labor Day weekend. It's a contest powwow drawing over 70 tribes with more than 1,500 dancers and drummers competing for prize money, and one of the last large outdoor events on the northern Great Plains powwow circuit — known as the Home of the Champions. The vendor component includes a traditional arts and crafts market and Native American food vendors, running alongside grand entry, dance competitions, and hand drum contests. Vendor eligibility is worth confirming directly with organizers—Powwow arts markets commonly restrict Native arts sales to enrolled tribal members under the Indian Arts and Crafts Act, and a seller misrepresenting work as Native-made faces federal penalties.
