Wapello County Regional Fair

Held each June in Eldon, the Wapello County Regional Fair is located at the original site of the Big 4 Fair, organized in 1890, along the north bank of the Des Moines River. This five-day annual event features free gate admission and free parking. The fair includes harness races, stock car races, mud drags, livestock shows, live concert entertainment, and kids' games throughout the week. Food trucks provide a range of fair foods. Excellent crafting and food exhibits in both the Iowa Agricultural Hall and Wapello Hall—with entry fees at $5 for every 10 entries. The 2026 Open Livestock Shows are conducted by the Ottumwa FFA and Eldon FFA Chapters. Soil-to-table produce, canned goods, home baking, quilting, textiles, woodworking, and handmade crafts draw consistent regional interest.
