West Virginia Coal Festival

About

Founded in 1994, WV Coal Festival is the original and only coal festival in West Virginia, held each June in downtown Madison and the county fairgrounds. The midweek-to-Saturday event brings carnival rides, craft vendors, food booths, and nightly entertainment to downtown Madison and the county fairgrounds, with the main parade on Saturday morning drawing crowds along Main Street. The Coal Queen pageant is a festival centerpiece, along with live country and bluegrass music on outdoor stages and coal-themed exhibits highlighting local history. No admission fees—straight community-focused crowd looking to support local makers and food vendors. You must pre-register for any craft vendor events with the WV Coal Festival.
