Fire on the Mountain Blacksmithing Festival
FestivalAnnual celebration of the art of the blacksmith always held last Saturday in April in Downtown Spruce Pine. Partnership between Spruce Pine Main Street Penland School of Craft and Toe River Arts. Features blacksmith demonstrations blacksmith vendor booths youth and adult forge-off competitions hands-on tents kids activities and food. One of the largest blacksmith festivals on the East Coast. Independent vendor application required - submissions handled in advance via Spruce Pine Main Street.
Spruce Pine Farmers Market
FarmersSpruce Pine Farmers Market is an open-air Wednesday market in its 10th year, running May–October. The market carries produce, baked goods, honey, jams, preserves, cheese, eggs, fresh flowers, beef, pork, dairy, artisan crafts, natural soaps, and medicinal herbs. Vendors come from Avery, Mitchell, and Yancey counties.

Self-guided free tour of over 100 professional artists and craftspeople working in Mitchell and Yancey counties. Artists open their home studios and galleries to visitors. Roadside signs help visitors identify studios. Sponsored by Toe River Arts. Gala reception at Spruce Pine TRAC Gallery the first Friday evening of the tour. Studio Guide with maps available in early May.
