Craft Fairs & Farmers Markets in Athens, Georgia
Indie South has run Athens' maker markets since 2006 — the Abnormal Bazaar every third Saturday, a vendor market at Porchfest and Holiday Hooray in December — and the juried AthFest Artist Market takes over downtown in late June. That's 7 events, with the North Georgia Folk Festival in October, a year-round Saturday farmers market and the Athens Academy Holiday Market.
Athens Academy Holiday Market
HolidayIn its 12th year, Athens Academy Holiday Market draws 85+ vendors from across the Southeast selling original, hand-crafted jewelry, pottery, artwork, floral arrangements, soaps, and artisanal food. Held at the Sinkwich Spartan Center on Athens Academy's 152-acre campus off Highway 441, the market attracts shoppers specifically hunting for one-of-a-kind gifts. An opening-night event on Wednesday precedes the main market day.
Athens Farmers Market
FarmersAthens Farmers Market runs Saturdays year-round in Athens, with Wednesday evening markets added March through November. The market welcomes produce, meats, baked goods, prepared food, and handmade crafts. Vendors can apply to attend every market or pick and choose which ones work for their schedule. Crafts & Drafts — a three-event evening series held at local breweries — offers a discounted vendor fee if you commit to all three; single-market applications for those events open later. A separate Holiday Artist Market runs on Small Business Saturday in November.
AthFest Artist Market
ArtisanArtist Market @ AthFest Music and Arts Festival is a juried visual and craft market in downtown Athens, held each late June since 2002 as a fundraiser for AthFest Educates. 65–70 booth spaces showcase original work in ceramics, drawings, paintings, folk art, furniture, photography, glass, handmade musical instruments, jewelry, mixed media, prints, woodwork, and sculpture. No commercial kit products or factory-made items. All artists are jury-selected on handmade nature, quality, production consistency, and uniqueness.
