Held in downtown Bangor across from the Bangor Public Library, Bangor Farmers' Market runs year-round on Sundays — May through November every Sunday, December through April on 1st and 3rd Sundays. Everything at the market must be produced by market members themselves. The market offers seasonal vegetables, greens, mushrooms, apples and berries, meats (including beef, pork, lamb, and chicken), fresh bread, pastries, eggs, cheese, yogurt and kefir, locally-roasted coffee beans, flowers, garden plants, and canned products. Applications are accepted annually through March 1st. The market is primarily oriented towards locally-grown and locally-processed food products; handicrafts are not allowed, but non-food items incorporating farm products—such as yarn and skin care products—may be considered.

Dating to 1849, Bangor State Fair typically draws 40,000–50,000 people a year and attracts shoppers from across Maine.
